Amazon.com Fetcher
Added by fatal over 1 year ago
Fetches MetaData and Posters from Amazon.com.
Similar to the Netflix fetcher, you will have to Register for an Amazon Product Advertising API and enter your Access and Secret keys in the Amazon Options.
Use the Amazon.com fetcher as a manual way to get metadata for hard to find items, I would NOT place Amazon as one of your fetchers in the dropdowns as a default fetcher, as amazons titles are all over the place and there is no Id to compare against.

Hi,
it would be great if you could add localization support for german amazon and so on.
As your using the Amazon Product Advertising API it shouldn't be that much effort,
if I recall correctly it's just changing "ecs.amazonaws.com" to "ecs.amazonaws.de"

Hey,
I will look into this and get back to you, but I think the reason I didn't provide this from the get go was b/c not all endpoints supported the movie search functionality, thus I left it only for english.

Looking at their documentation it seems that it is supported, I'll test it and and it in the next update of the plugin.

Ok,
I've added this in there and will available through the amazon options screen. I've also updated the code to use Amazon API version 10-1-2010.
Remember that not all the endpoints contain all movies or all information, so keep that in mind.

I can't seem to get the Amazon fetcher to work. I signed up for and entered my access key and secret key, but no success. I have Amazon pulling only aspect ratio as part of my default fetcher. Any ideas?

Hey Woody,
Amazon fetcher is not recommended as a fetcher for the default fetcher settings (ie, selected as a fetcher in the dropdown in Settings->Movies->Fetchers) as there is no ID to compare against with amazon and is done purely on a title text comparison, will be most often fail with amazon b/c of how their titles are named.
