Migrating from MediaBrowser to XBMC
Added by PhantomZone 3 months ago
Fatal,
Following our quick conversation on the XBMC forum I'd appreciate some pointers on modifying the trailers to work with XBMC,
Obviously they need to be in the main directory with the other files so any help appreciated!
I've managed to rename everything else to ensure compatibility so this is my final step!
Cheers,
Jonny

Hey Jonny,
To copy/use existing trailers for MediaBrowser to be compatible with XBMC, do the following:
- Make sure to set MediaBrowser local as your primary local in Settings->Movies->Locals (if it was not your primary, set it as your primary and perform a rebuild)
- Make sure to enable the XBMC saver (has a check next to it) in Settings->Movies->Savers
- Set a Filter for MediaType Equals Movies AND Trailers GreaterThan 0
- Press the "Process All" button on the main application ribbon
- Under the movies tab uncheck everything except download trailers.
- Check "include locked items" on the bottom next to generate list
- Click on "Generate List"
- Check on "process locked items"
- Click on "Process"
That should be it.
As always, double check your settings before processing and try to perform the process on a smaller subset filter to make sure your settings are producing desired results.

Fatal,
I've all my movies done and looking well!
Unfortunately TV Series don't appear to be going the same way lol
I've ran a process all through my TV program's and its done the following -
1. Add a .actors folder for each series in the series root
2. Added a fanart.jpg
3. Added seasonxx.tbn files for each season
4. Added a tvshow.nfo in the series root
5. Added a .nfo and .tbn for each episode in a season
I've now added jusrt '24' to my TV Shows in XBMC to try and narrow this down but I can't see any episodes or seasons and for 24 it says it finds a 'formula 1 season review' and 'actors studio' lol....but nothing else!
Any idea what I've done wrong?
Cheers,
Jonny

Hey Jonny,
The files created above in the steps look correct for XBMC.
I've now added jusrt '24' to my TV Shows in XBMC to try and narrow this down but I can't see any episodes or seasons and for 24 it says it finds a 'formula 1 season review' and 'actors studio'
I don't know exactly what you mean, can you please explain?

Fatal,
My structure is as follows -
TV Series --> 24 --> Season 1 --> episode
When XBMC scrapes the 24 directory, it finds 2 TV Shows - 'Formula 1 Season review' and 'actors studio'
I assume it's not reading the data correctly and instead is scraping what it thinks is therein!

Hey,
Hum, weird, do you have any stray files in the series or season level folder?
Can you check the nfo file at the series level and see what it says? Also check an nfo file for an episode and see if it is correct? (or you can set XBMC as your primary local and perform a rebuild now since you should have all metadata).
Let me know.

No issues on MediaBrowser and I checked for any strays there but can't see any problems!
I think its something to do with the fine naming?
All 24 episodes are episode_name.extension
I haven't got round to doing a few series yet, eg. Criminal intent....all episodes are named like this - s01e01.extension
All criminal intent episodes are read in fine....
I've also rebuilt to no effect!
Am I going to have to go through each episode and rename them all SxxExx? It would take a lifetime lol

Hey,
meta<browser/> can rename the files for you as long as they have correct metadata, just enabled renaming in Settings->TV->Renaming and set the correct rename pattern.
I don't think XBMC will identify files without sXXeYY or SSxEE as episodes, so that might be your issue.
I've also rebuilt to no effect!
Rebuilt what?
Again, if you have correct metadata fetched in metabrowser for the episodes, but just the files are not named correctly, enabled renaming and process the episodes for renaming only.

This is giving very odd results!
I gave up on 24 as its 8 seasons and messing around manually was talking too long...so..
I edited my boardwalk empire folder....took all artwork, meta data and everything not an episode out,
I renamed all episodes in the format s01e01.hdtv.mkv etc....
I then processed the series in metabrowser and when I imported it into XBMC Eden Beta 3 it says I have 2 TV shows....Formula 1 Season review and Actors Studio....
Actors Studio seems to be a misreading of the .actors folder....Lord knows why it's picking up the F1 name!!

Fatal,
I've spent a fair bit of head scratching time here and have concluded XBMC won't add the files to the TV Shows section unless they have SxxExx in the file name...
Since I allowed metabrowser to rename all my files, none of them get read in!
I renamed Season 1 of 24 S01E01 etc and renamed 2 seasons of Boardwalk Empire in the same way and they were both imported correctly into XBMC!
Is there any way to revert all filenames back to the SxxExx format?
If not....I'm left with thousands of episodes neeeding manually renamed!

Edit - reading back you did conclude this...if they can be renamed back to a usable format, could you list the steps! :)
Edit 2 - ignore me...set correct rename pattern - I'lll check and get back to you...I think I'm spending too much time in front of this lol
Edit 3 - resolved - cheers Fatal!
