Media Collection Not Working
When I go to setting and add a folder to the Media Location list, it only shows the folder but does not look at all of the subfolders within that folder.
For instance I tell it to look at f:\Movies\Scifi\ and all it does is show Scifi in the media collection box but none of the films within that folder (in their own sub folders) show.
So I tried just the movies folder f:\Movies still it shows none of my films.
Does the program not scan the subfolders within the main folder? Do I really have to point to each and every single folder within the main folder? So far this has been the most tedious meta data software I have ever come across. If MCM weren't so damn slow...

Yes my extensions are all listed under settings.

So I figured out the problem: Every single movie must be in its own specified/labelled folder. Any movies that are just sitting together folder-less will cause the program to see the main folder as just containing one movie.
Which is really frustrating. MCM will see any folder-less files and automatically create a folder for it and move it to the new folder. For instance if I directed it to a folder with say a hundred .avi files in it (just files not folders) it will look at each file and create a folder with the same name and dump it into the folder before fetching the meta data.
Any chance we can have a look at meta browser being a bit more automated because as it stands I have to do a lot more work outside of the program now to get it to work properly; as I have hundreds of files that are not currently sorted into their own specific folders.

Previous post from fatal. I suppose fatal is referring to my issue in this post when he says "Stray Files in the Root".
Kind of sub par that the software can't differentiate and continue looking into other folders that are there (and also create folders for files that have none).

Hey Ian,
Make sure that the extension of the file is listed in the valid extensions list in Settings->General.
Also make sure that you put the episodes under a valid season folder and that you don't have any stray files in the root of the series/season folder that might be identified as a movie.
Another thing to check is making sure the files are not marked as system files, as metabrowser ignores system files by default.
If none of that solves it, please list the exact folder structure/filename of the items you are having issues with (screenshots can help also).

Hey,
Frontends like XBMC allow for multiple movies to be in a single folder since their metadata filename is "<filename>.nfo". Folders being in separate folders is a requirement of MediaBrowser and MyMovies frontend, as their metadata filename is "mymovies.xml".
meta<browser/> does allow scanning of all movies in a single folder if you enable "Allow multiple movies per folder" in Settings->Movies, but that will be of no use to you if you are using MediaBrowser.
I have no plans to add an option to create folders based on files found in one folder. You can read the wiki here and use File2Folder GUI to easily move each file into its own folder: HowTo use file2folder GUI.
