Hey,

When you say you can't narrow it down to a particular saver, have you tried disabling one saver at a time and see if it improves? What happens if you disable all savers except the cleanup saver. Does it only happen when metadata is being saved or when images are changed or does it not matter?

Are your movies on a server with their disks spun down or anything similar which might cause a delay on initial save, but all subsequent saves are faster?

In answer to your questions:
1) It doesn't matter what is being saved - images or just metadata.
2) It doesn't matter WHICH savers are enabled - as soon as one (any) is enabled, saving is very slow. I realise this sounds obvious, but previous versions of Metabrowser saved pretty much instantly.
3) Subsequent saves are just as slow.

Where are your movies located, on local disk, server, usb external drive etc?

Can you try, as a test, what happens if you create a dummy movie and try to save metadata for it on the local machine on which metabrowser is running to see if it exhibits the same issue?

Also, as a test, can you remove the path to where cast images are saved in your plugin settings (XBMC and/or MediaBrowser) and try to save and see what happens.

I tried making both of those changes:
1) Create a local folder with a couple of movies
2) Disabling the cast images functionality
I also tried disabling all savers but the folder.jpg one. Also clearing the cache, and deleting the files from \Settings. Nothing seems to help.

To clarify, the actual saving appears to take place instantly. It's just that there is a long delay for Metabrowser becomes responsive again.

I am still experiencing this in 2.2.15.

In order to try and track it down once and for all, I backed up my old configuration folder and started from scratch.

At first, I just added the Movies directory, with just the Metabrowser plugin and found that saving was instantaneous. I then loaded all the other plugins back, and saving was still quick. Next, I added the TV series directory. Once they had all been scanned in, performance of saving was back to being very slow.

It would seem that the problem is simply from having a large library.

Having a large collection should not cause this issue. Do you have "Highlight parent if children have missing metadata" enabled in Settings->Misc? If so, can you try turning that off and see if it helps.
