A number of questions on features

Added by jjjanus 6 months ago

Hi,

I have some questions remaining after a brief trial usage:
1. Is metabrowser able to download subtitles?
2. I'm interested in metabrowser as I have some french shows and movies. Therefore I want to set up a TVDB in french and TVDB in English (for different locations). Is this possible (or can it only have one plugin installed at the same time)?
3. Some of the series on TVDB have the same ID number for English and French For this example I'll use the following two versions:

As I only had the trial version, will setting the language for the TVDB fetcher to French result in a French description being returned (currently the existing metadata is English and because of the limits of the Trial version, I can't fetch this series)?

Cheers.

Hey,

1. No, subtitles are currently not able to be downloaded through metabrowser, although I did look at at adding a plugin for it but decided to work on other things instead, I might look into it later.

2. You don't need to have 2 plugins installed, TVDb and meta<browser/> can, on a per series basis, fetch the language you want. I believe TVDb falls back to the English if the language you have chosen is not available. (as a side note, TVDb is only for TV, you can use TMDb for movies).

3. You can fetch in french or any other language in the trial (just saving will be disabled). The way it works is basically you set your preferred language in the TVDb plugin options, this will be your "default" language when it is fetched from TVDb, But, each series can have it's own language parameter set as well, which overrides the setting of the plugin. So you can have one series fetch in English and another fetch in French if you desire. To set the series level language, select a Series in the media collection list, and in the information panel you will see a "Language" property, set it to the preferred language and it will fetch using that instead. You can read a little bit more about it here: http://themetabrowser.com/news/9

Thanks for the reply.

Subtitle downloading would be very useful (well to me). Currently I'm tossing up between this and MCM.

I much prefer Metabrowser, because it is far more scope for customization. I'll have to see how to tackle subtitles without using media browser (media browser does a good job of subtitles, but I'm always concerned it will over write some metadata).

Cheers.

I face the same problem with downloading subtitles.

1. Meta browser doesn't want to download it.

2. MediaBrowser's subtitle plugin is broken or not supported since a year ago.

What options do I have? Manually downloading subtitle files online???? Please help!!!
