feature request - auto write trailer tag
Hi Fatal,
Now that you have added the Trailer tag for xmbc, it would be nice if you could automatically write the tag when one downloads the trailer for a given movie.
i.e. right click on movie and select 'Download Trailer' then automatically write the trailer path and name to the trailer tag for the movie.
thx.

Hi,
The trailer tag is only a tag that is written from the value gotten from TMDb (as that's the only fetcher that supports that).
When you Right Click->Download Trailer it actually goes out and downloads a trailer from one of the available trailer plugins (dave's trailer page/movie list etc...) and puts the trailer in the same folder as the movie, and, in the case of xbmc, names it <moviefilename>-trailer.ext.

Ah, I did not know tmdb would auto populate the trailer tag. I just tried it, quite handy.
This said - as I am sure your know, you can also, instead of a url, paste in the local path of a trailer in the trailer field. This is what I do as streaming sometimes causes problems.
So what I am asking is: if I do download the trailer locally (Right Click->Download Trailer), could you write the movie folder path with trailer name <moviefilename>-trailer.ext in the trailer field/tag?
I also think you have a bug in trailer renaming. At least when you Right Click->Download Trailer.
For example, I just added Black Swan to my library and saved - the mkv file was renamed: Black.Swan.mkv
I then proceeded to download the trailer (Right Click->Download Trailer). the trailer got named Black-trailer.ext
I also just looked at a movie I added last week. mkv name is 30.Days.of.Night.mkv. Triler name is: 30.Days.of-trailer.mov
Seems to be dropping the last word of the movie name.
thx,

Hey,
Thanks for the bug report, I will look into it and get back to you on that.
As for adding the locally downloaded trailer path to the nfo file, what would be the benefit of doing that if the file is named appropriately in the same folder as the movie, which xbmc will recognize?

I did not realize xmbc would recognize the trailer automitcally. But you are correct, it does. So I guess once the naming bug is fixed we are good to go.
thx.
